Introduction
Welcome to Stone & Scribe!
We're delighted to welcome your family into a world of mystery, adventure, and discovery through Scripture.
These Terms & Conditions explain how our program works and what customers can expect when purchasing a Stone & Scribe adventure.
They cover subscriptions, payments, physical mailings, shipping, cancellations, refunds, digital content, and customer support.
By completing a purchase, you agree to the applicable Terms & Conditions presented at checkout.
Please review these terms carefully before purchasing.
Nothing in this agreement limits consumer rights or legal remedies that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
1. About Stone & Scribe
Stone & Scribe is a Bible-based mystery adventure designed primarily for children ages 8 to 12.
The complete adventure unfolds over 12 months and includes 23 physical mailings.
The first mailing contains a personalized welcome package. Subsequent mailings arrive throughout the adventure and are personally addressed to the child.
The experience includes original stories, mysteries, investigations, Scripture-based challenges, and other interactive materials.
Participating families may also receive access to supplementary digital resources, including the Stone & Scribe Archive, Hartwell Files, and additional resources or surprises.
Stone & Scribe is designed as a supplemental family enrichment experience. It is not an accredited educational curriculum.
Adult participation and guidance are encouraged.
2. Subscription Options and Pricing
Stone & Scribe offers monthly subscriptions and annual purchases.
Monthly Subscription
- $15 per month, plus applicable taxes.
- Payments are charged in advance of each monthly subscription cycle.
- A maximum of 12 successful monthly payments will be collected for the complete adventure.
- The total for all 12 monthly payments is $180 before applicable taxes.
- Customers may cancel at any time to prevent future payments.
- No cancellation penalty applies.
- Monthly billing does not continue beyond completion of the 12-payment program.
- The subscription does not automatically renew for a new adventure.
Annual Purchase
- $150 paid upfront, plus applicable taxes.
- Covers the complete 12-month adventure.
- Includes all 23 physical mailings.
- No additional monthly subscription charges apply.
- The annual purchase does not automatically renew.
Currency and Shipping
Canadian shipping destinations are charged in Canadian dollars (CAD).
United States shipping destinations are charged in United States dollars (USD).
The numerical prices are the same in both currencies, with the applicable currency clearly identified at checkout.
Standard shipping to addresses in Canada and the United States is included in the subscription price.
Applicable taxes and the total purchase amount will be disclosed before payment is authorized.
Any applicable customs or import charges, if they arise, will be addressed in accordance with applicable laws and the shipping disclosures provided at checkout. Stone & Scribe will not impose undisclosed mandatory delivery charges.
3. Payment Authorization and Billing
By purchasing a monthly subscription, you authorize Stone & Scribe and its designated payment processors to charge your selected payment method according to the billing schedule disclosed at checkout.
Monthly payments are collected in advance and continue until the subscription is cancelled or 12 successful monthly payments have been completed, whichever occurs first.
A failed payment or retry of an unpaid installment does not count as an additional subscription month.
Your payment schedule begins when your subscription is created. Future billing dates will be reflected in your purchase or subscription records.
The mailing schedule may not correspond exactly with the payment date because physical materials follow a coordinated production and fulfillment schedule.
Purchasers are responsible for maintaining accurate payment and contact information.
Stone & Scribe will not intentionally collect more than 12 monthly payments for one complete adventure without separate customer authorization.
4. Monthly Subscription Cancellation
We understand that circumstances can change, and we want cancellation to be straightforward.
Monthly subscribers may cancel at any time without a cancellation fee or penalty.
Cancellation stops future subscription payments. Materials associated with subscription cycles already paid for will continue to be fulfilled, subject to any applicable refund or statutory cancellation rights.
Online Self-Service Cancellation
Customers may cancel through the available online subscription-management method provided with their account or purchase.
A successfully completed self-service cancellation takes effect immediately for future billing.
Customers should retain the cancellation confirmation for their records.
Cancellation by Email
Customers may also request cancellation by emailing:
Please include the purchaser's full name and the email address associated with the subscription.
We recommend submitting email cancellation requests at least 48 hours before the next scheduled payment to allow sufficient administrative processing time.
This 48-hour period is a recommendation and is not a mandatory notice requirement.
Cancellation requests received before the next scheduled charge will be honoured as timely, even if they are processed afterward.
If a charge occurs because a timely cancellation request was not processed by Stone & Scribe, we will correct the billing and issue an appropriate refund.
Cancellation After a Payment Has Processed
If a cancellation request is received after a scheduled payment has already been processed, that payment is generally non-refundable under our change-of-mind refund policy, subject to applicable law.
The customer will continue to receive the materials covered by that paid subscription cycle.
No additional monthly subscription charges will occur after cancellation takes effect.
Completion of the Adventure
All monthly subscription billing automatically ends after the 12th successful payment.
Customers are not required to cancel to prevent renewal after completing the full 12-month adventure.
5. Refunds and Returns
Because Stone & Scribe creates, prints, personalizes, prepares, and ships physical adventure materials, purchases are generally final and non-refundable for a change of mind.
Monthly Subscription Purchases
Payments already processed for a monthly subscription cycle are generally non-refundable for a change of mind.
Customers may cancel future monthly payments in accordance with the cancellation policy.
Annual Purchases
Annual purchases are generally non-refundable for a change of mind, including if a purchaser decides not to continue participating before the adventure is complete.
Unless otherwise agreed, Stone & Scribe will continue fulfilling the materials covered by the annual purchase.
Personalized and Physical Materials
Packages that have been personalized, printed, prepared, or shipped are generally not eligible for change-of-mind returns or refunds.
Incorrect, Damaged, or Defective Materials
If a package arrives damaged, defective, incomplete, or incorrect, please contact Stone & Scribe.
We will arrange an appropriate replacement at no additional cost or provide another remedy where required by applicable law.
Consumer Protection Rights
Our no-change-of-mind-refund policy does not override legal cancellation or refund rights.
Customers may have additional rights where required purchase information was not properly disclosed, an agreement was not properly provided, a purchased product was not delivered as required, a product was materially misrepresented, or another statutory cancellation or remedy applies.
Nothing in these terms limits, excludes, or waives mandatory consumer-protection rights under applicable Canadian or United States law.
Where a refund or another remedy is legally required, Stone & Scribe will comply with the applicable requirements.
6. Shipping and Fulfillment
Stone & Scribe currently ships to addresses in Canada and the United States.
Initial Welcome Package
The initial personalized welcome package will typically arrive within approximately 2 to 4 weeks of purchase.
Delivery timing depends on when an order is placed within our production and mailing schedule.
Ongoing Physical Mailings
Subsequent packages are mailed according to the adventure's coordinated fulfillment schedule.
The complete, fully paid adventure includes 23 physical mailings over the program.
Because the experience is designed as an unfolding mystery, shipments are spaced to allow children time to explore the story, complete investigations, and anticipate the next delivery.
Shipping Delays
Delivery estimates may be affected by postal-service interruptions, weather, holidays, customs processing, or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We will make reasonable efforts to communicate significant fulfillment delays and resolve delivery concerns.
Delivery estimates do not remove or limit any legal rights relating to late or failed delivery.
Shipping Coverage
Standard shipping is included in the advertised purchase price for Canadian and United States delivery addresses.
Any additional shipping arrangement requested by a customer must be separately agreed upon before additional charges are collected.
7. Lost or Missing Packages
If a package has not arrived within a reasonable period after its expected delivery date, please contact:
We will review the circumstances and investigate the missing delivery.
Where a mailing appears lost or undelivered and the correct shipping address was provided, we will arrange an appropriate replacement at no additional cost.
Standard Replacement Policy
Our standard policy provides one complimentary replacement shipment for each original mailing confirmed or reasonably determined to be lost or undelivered.
If a replacement shipment is also unsuccessful, we may request an alternative shipping address or discuss another reasonable delivery arrangement.
Additional replacement requests will be reviewed individually based on the circumstances, shipping information, delivery history, and applicable consumer rights.
We may take reasonable steps to verify repeated delivery issues or prevent misuse of our replacement policy.
Nothing in this policy restricts a customer's legal right to receive purchased goods or obtain another remedy where required by applicable law.
8. Incorrect Shipping Addresses and Address Changes
Purchasers are responsible for providing complete and accurate recipient shipping information.
Address changes should be requested as early as possible by emailing:
Please include the purchaser's name, the recipient's name, and the corrected shipping information.
Because Stone & Scribe prepares physical mailings in advance, we cannot guarantee that an address change submitted after a package has entered production or shipping can be applied to that mailing.
If a mailing is returned or misdelivered because of incorrect information provided by the customer, we will work with the purchaser to identify a reasonable solution.
Where an additional reshipping charge is appropriate and legally permitted, the customer will be informed and asked to approve the charge before it is collected.
9. Gift Subscriptions
Stone & Scribe subscriptions may be purchased as gifts.
A purchaser may order the adventure for a child living in another household.
Purchaser Responsibilities
The individual completing the purchase is responsible for the associated payment obligations.
For monthly gift subscriptions, charges continue according to the agreed monthly billing schedule until the subscription is cancelled or the maximum of 12 successful payments has been completed.
Annual gift purchases are paid upfront and do not automatically renew.
Recipient Information
Gift purchasers are responsible for providing accurate recipient contact and shipping details and for having appropriate authorization to share that information.
Address Changes
Gift recipients or their parents or guardians may request changes to the recipient shipping address.
Requests should be emailed to:
Changes should be requested in advance of the next scheduled mailing.
Billing and Cancellation
Cancellation, payment-method changes, and other billing-related requests generally require authorization from the original purchaser or another appropriately verified account holder.
Gift recipients may contact Stone & Scribe to report delivery or fulfillment problems.
10. Failed Payments and Insufficient Funds
If a scheduled subscription payment cannot be processed due to insufficient funds, an expired card, a declined transaction, or another payment-related issue, Stone & Scribe may:
- Notify the purchaser.
- Request updated payment information.
- Request an alternative payment method.
- Automatically retry the failed payment through its payment processor, subject to applicable rules.
- Temporarily pause preparation and shipment of materials associated with unpaid subscription cycles.
Payment Grace Period
We generally allow a seven-day grace period for customers to resolve failed-payment issues.
During this period, fulfillment of unpaid subscription materials may be held until payment has been successfully processed.
Stone & Scribe does not impose additional late-payment or insufficient-funds fees.
Continued Payment Failure
If payment remains unresolved for 30 days, Stone & Scribe may cancel the affected monthly subscription after providing notice to the purchaser.
Cancellation for non-payment stops future subscription billing and fulfillment.
Customers will not be charged for future cancelled subscription cycles that have not been fulfilled.
Any legitimately outstanding payment associated with materials already supplied may remain payable, subject to applicable law.
Payment Recovery
If an outstanding payment is successfully recovered before cancellation, fulfillment will resume for the applicable paid materials.
Any necessary adjustments to the mailing schedule will be communicated to the purchaser.
A retry or recovery of a failed installment does not authorize an additional subscription month or charges beyond the agreed maximum.
11. Credit Card Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
Stone & Scribe aims to resolve billing concerns fairly and promptly.
If a purchaser disputes a payment through their bank, credit card issuer, or payment provider, Stone & Scribe may investigate the transaction and provide relevant evidence to the payment-processing provider.
This evidence may include:
- Transaction and payment records.
- The purchase and subscription terms accepted by the customer.
- Cancellation records.
- Relevant customer communications.
- Production and fulfillment records.
- Shipping and delivery information where available.
Fulfillment During a Dispute
While a payment dispute is being reviewed, Stone & Scribe may temporarily pause future fulfillment associated with the disputed or otherwise unpaid purchase.
If the dispute is resolved in favour of the customer or payment is permanently reversed, we will review the corresponding fulfillment and payment obligations and take appropriate action in accordance with applicable law.
Dispute Fees
Stone & Scribe does not automatically charge customers additional chargeback penalties or administrative dispute fees.
Customer Rights
Nothing in these terms prevents a customer from disputing an unauthorized, incorrect, or otherwise legally disputable transaction.
Customers are encouraged, but not required, to contact Stone & Scribe regarding billing concerns before contacting their payment provider.
Please contact:
We will make reasonable efforts to investigate and resolve concerns promptly.
12. Digital Resources and Online Access
Stone & Scribe may provide supplementary online content through the Stone & Scribe Archive, Hartwell Files, and other digital features.
Digital resources complement the physical adventure and are intended for personal, non-commercial household use.
Access to particular digital materials may depend on the customer's purchase, subscription status, and progression through the adventure.
Customers who cancel a monthly subscription do not become entitled to future content associated with unpaid subscription cycles.
Previously available digital resources may remain accessible depending on the functionality and availability of the platform.
Unless expressly promised at purchase, permanent or lifetime access to digital content is not guaranteed.
Stone & Scribe may maintain, update, or improve supplementary digital features over time.
We will make reasonable efforts to preserve material digital benefits included in a customer's paid purchase and will respect applicable consumer rights if substantial promised features become unavailable.
13. Language of the Program
Stone & Scribe is an English-language adventure.
Stories, letters, mysteries, investigations, printed materials, activities, and supplementary digital content are currently provided exclusively in English.
French-language versions of the adventure are not currently available.
Purchasers should ensure that the intended recipient is comfortable participating in an English-language experience.
This statement describes the language of the adventure materials and does not waive any applicable consumer rights concerning the language of purchase agreements, contractual disclosures, or other legally required communications.
14. Parental Responsibility and Child Participation
Stone & Scribe is designed primarily for children ages 8 to 12.
Purchases and account registrations must be completed by an adult who has reached the age of majority in their jurisdiction.
Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their children's participation and use of associated online resources.
The adventure uses fictional stories and characters alongside biblical passages and themes.
Stone & Scribe does not guarantee a particular educational, spiritual, or personal outcome.
The program is intended to encourage curiosity, biblical exploration, and family engagement.
15. Intellectual Property
Stone & Scribe's original stories, characters, puzzles, investigations, illustrations, activity materials, designs, branding, and other original creative works belong to Stone & Scribe or their respective rights holders.
Purchasing a subscription grants the purchaser permission to use the materials for personal, non-commercial household enjoyment.
Customers may not reproduce, commercially distribute, publicly upload, resell, or otherwise commercially exploit Stone & Scribe's protected content without prior written authorization.
Nothing in these terms claims ownership of Scripture or other third-party materials used under licence, permission, or applicable law.
16. Program Availability and Changes
Stone & Scribe may improve, update, or refine supporting materials, digital features, and production details over time.
We will make reasonable efforts to preserve the essential adventure experience purchased by the customer.
A complete, fully paid adventure includes the promised 23 physical mailings, subject to any lawful amendments or agreed resolutions.
If unexpected circumstances materially affect our ability to fulfill a purchase, we will contact the purchaser and work toward an appropriate solution consistent with applicable consumer-protection law.
17. Privacy and Personal Information
Stone & Scribe collects and uses certain purchaser, parent or guardian, and recipient information to process orders, manage subscriptions, arrange shipping, provide digital access, and respond to customer-support requests.
Information may include purchaser contact details, recipient names, delivery information, transaction records, and other information reasonably required to provide the purchased experience.
Our practices concerning personal information are described in our Privacy Policy:
www.TheStoneAndScribe.com/privacy-cookies
The Privacy Policy provides additional information regarding the collection, use, disclosure, safeguarding, and handling of personal information.
18. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Stone & Scribe is not responsible for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from use of the program or supplementary digital resources where liability for those losses may lawfully be excluded.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, personal injury where liability cannot legally be excluded, or any other liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Nothing in this agreement limits mandatory consumer rights, statutory warranties, or legal remedies.
19. Changes to These Terms
Stone & Scribe may periodically update these Terms & Conditions to reflect operational changes, improvements, or legal requirements.
Updated terms will be published at:
www.TheStoneAndScribe.com/terms
The effective date will be updated when the terms are revised.
Revised terms generally apply to purchases made after their effective date.
Existing purchases remain subject to the terms accepted when the purchase was completed, unless a change is required by law or separately agreed to by the customer.
We will not retroactively introduce additional payment obligations or materially reduce existing purchase entitlements without an appropriate legal basis or customer agreement.
20. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the applicable laws of Ontario, Canada, and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario.
This provision does not remove or override mandatory consumer protections that apply to customers in their province, state, or country of residence.
Nothing in this agreement prevents customers from exercising legal rights or remedies available under applicable consumer-protection laws.
